“What is next?” Was the only persistent question on my mind that winter. I wanted change. I wanted to stop teaching and possibly do something else. But what? I gave myself 3 months of travel and contemplation time so by the spring and with the spring I could start a new life. I left Palo Alto and flew to Normandy counting on the coastal winds to refresh my mind and take me to clarity. I was ready. I wanted change.

My hotel was almost empty, breakfast light, but weather cloudy and air clear. I decided to stay in and write all day. What is next? I chose long hand, free style mode of writing, not the decision tree and tables. I was impatient but willing to play the game and follow my subconscious.

The napkin in front of me was monogramed with three letters – “AIM”. I asked the server what that meant? He said “Amour Infini et Magique,” Infinite and Magical Love.

Leaving coffee shop I looked back and noticed left behind book. Two tables away from me, by the closed window on the chair was the book with thick, light brown cover. I took it in my hands, opened it. I was wrong, it was’t a book, it was a journal with a few drawings on the cover and the bold title “Love Journal.”

How this private journal ended in my hands, I do not remember, but the rest of the trip I was not thinking about me, my life and my future, I was reading the notes in this book, trying to understand formulas and making sense of drawings made by someone who, I was convinced already, was a scientists not poet and not a businessman.  The “Love Journal” was a science paper preparation notes. The last five pages were filled with a long list of definitions and references. Leonardo was one of the names in it and the most mentioned was Jean Piaget.
